Berlin is a city that attracts many people, and we believe that our struggle is also the struggle of many others: struggle to understand the language, but also struggle to find a safe space, a community, a group to belong to and to connect with. This need is shared by groups that have very different backgrounds but have in common the same will/need to learn the language. This shared need will work as a glue between the participants, and enhance dialogue between people that would otherwise not meet.

We believe that by enhancing intercultural dialogue and active participation of people with fewer opportunities we can contribute to a more inclusive tolerant society, the society we would like to live.

The first idea for the project came from a German course based on theatre pedagogy that some of us attended. The playful environment allowed us to forget the struggles and learn naturally; by involving the body and engaging in the activities at different levels, the learning was smooth and we were able to memorise things fast. In all the activities implemented in the first two rounds of this project, we saw this confirmed: the power of creativity and playfulness enhanced learning, growth, and solidarity.
